A hammer union comprises of a thread end, a nut end and a hammer nut which, when cinched up, compresses a composite seal assembly thereby preventing leakage. The seal assembly comprises a metal insert of a size to pass into the seal groove of conventional hammer unions and a small seal acting between the insert, the thread end and the nut end. The small seal is conveniently an O-ring or a Hammer Union Seal (Lip Seal) and is of a size that is compressed when the seal assembly is inserted into the thread end of the hammer union.

The hammer union is the complete metal connection; the seal ring is its replaceable sealing element. Figure references including 602, 1002, 1502, 2002 and 2202 require their own manufacturer drawing and groove confirmation. Seal rings must not be assumed interchangeable between figures.

Available size : 1, 2, 3 and 4 inch nominal connection enquiries; confirm each seal drawing. A 5 inch or other custom size requires separate drawing review.

Material: Specify NBR (nitrile/Buna-N) or HNBR as a separate compound choice for each seal drawing. Confirm exact grade, hardness and color requirements before ordering.

Application: Hammer union lip seals are replacement elements for compatible oilfield hose and pipe union grooves. Match the lip section and any support ring to the original drawing. Fluid compatibility and connection performance require review of the selected compound and complete hardware.

Black or Custom-Color Union Seal Orders: Keep Compound and Identification Together

Choose the seal drawing and material before specifying black or a custom color. Provide the union figure, nominal size, actual seal dimensions and any support-ring detail. Color helps identify an agreed part but does not establish compound equivalence or pressure capability.

For multiple colors, list each drawing, compound, color reference and quantity separately. Agree how the part number and material are identified on packaging. Confirm the sample color and dimensional acceptance criteria before production, especially where similar-looking seals are stored together.

Compare quotations for the same compound, hardness, tolerances and construction. Final price and lead time depend on the agreed order specification and quantity. Provide fluid composition, temperature and pressure-cycle requirements for compound review; complete union ratings are confirmed separately.
