A hammer union uses mating ends and a hammer nut to assemble a pipe or hose connection. The replacement rubber seal is a component of that assembly. Where a metal insert or backing ring is specified, its dimensions and relationship to the elastomer must match the equipment parts drawing; not every union uses the same composite seal arrangement.

This listing focuses on identifying the complete seal configuration: lip seal or O-ring profile, rubber compound and any metal backing. Figure 602, 1002, 1502, 2002 and 2202 references identify different union configurations. Confirm the manufacturer, figure, nominal connection size and seal part number before selecting a replacement.

Nominal size enquiries: Original catalogue references include 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5-inch connections. Confirm availability and the actual seal dimensions for each manufacturer and figure; connection size is not the measured seal diameter.

Material: NBR and HNBR rubber compounds require an agreed material specification and exact Shore A hardness. The original incomplete 80/90 material list does not establish a compound or performance rating. Provide the fluid, temperature and service requirements for material review.

Application: Replacement seals for the specified hammer union hardware in oilfield pipe or hose connections. Inspect the groove, sealing surfaces and any backing parts using the equipment service procedure. Seal replacement does not correct damaged connection hardware.

For a replacement order, identify whether the supply is the rubber ring alone or includes the matching metal insert or backing. List each component and quantity separately. Pressure and test limits belong to the complete rated union assembly and service conditions; H2S suitability requires specific compound and equipment qualification.
