NBR nitrile hammer union seal rings are replacement sealing elements for compatible hose and pipe union connections used in oil-drilling equipment. Specify the nominal connection size, union figure and original seal drawing so that each ring matches its intended groove.

                                 Product Description                                                  

A hammer union comprises of a thread end, a nut end and a hammer nut which, when cinched up, compresses a composite seal assembly thereby preventing leakage. The seal assembly comprises a metal insert of a size to pass into the seal groove of conventional hammer unions and a small seal acting between the insert, the thread end and the nut end. The small seal is conveniently an O-ring or a Hammer Union Seal (Lip Seal) and is of a size that is compressed when the seal assembly is inserted into the thread end of the hammer union.

The hammer union is the complete metal connection; the seal ring is its replaceable sealing element. Figure references including 602, 1002, 1502, 2002 and 2202 require their own manufacturer drawing and groove confirmation. Seal rings must not be assumed interchangeable between figures.

Material:

Select one compound and hardness for the 4 inch seal drawing. NBR, nitrile and Buna-N refer to the same polymer family. HNBR, FKM and PU are separate elastomer options; PTFE is a separate thermoplastic choice.

For Figure 1502 replacement enquiries, match the seal profile and any brass or stainless steel support ring to the original connection drawing. Working pressure and proof-test requirements belong to the complete union assembly; confirm the manufacturer rating, service conditions and applicable test records. A seal material or nominal size alone does not establish a pressure rating.

4 Inch Colored Union Seals: Specify Brass Support and Color Separately

For a 4 inch nominal union connection, identify the original seal part number, figure and groove drawing. State whether the replacement requires a brass back-up ring or a plain elastomer construction. With-support and without-support versions must each match their intended groove; they are not interchangeable solely because the nominal size is the same.

Specify color after selecting the compound and construction. Color can help distinguish parts in storage, but it does not prove polymer grade, hardness or pressure capability. Include the approved color reference and part marking with the drawing revision and packaging requirements.

Send actual seal dimensions, tolerances, fluid composition, operating temperature and quantity for each version. Confirm brass alloy and support dimensions where applicable. Compare samples and quotations against the same specification, with complete union ratings reviewed separately.
