Hammer Union Seal

This blue NBR hammer union seal ring is presented without a metal backup. Confirm that the identified union drawing specifies an unreinforced rubber construction before ordering; a ring without backing must not replace a metal-backed design solely because its visible dimensions appear similar.
Specify the NBR compound code, Shore A hardness and agreed blue color reference. Color is an identification feature rather than proof of compound or service capability. Brass-backed and stainless-backed rings are separate configurations requiring their own part specification.

Unreinforced NBR replacement rings must match the union manufacturer, figure, nominal connection size and seal part number or drawing. Confirm the lip profile, groove dimensions and seating arrangement against the equipment design. Nominal pipe size is not the seal outside diameter.
Review the actual fluid and temperature with the selected compound. Operating and test pressure limits belong to the complete rated union assembly; the absence of metal backing does not establish a pressure rating. Sour-gas service requires specific compound and equipment qualification. Inspect grooves and mating surfaces using the equipment procedure before installation, and retain the approved part and compound identity for repeat orders.
