Custom Automotive Silicone and EPDM Parts: Mating Geometry and Compound Selection
Specify whether the part is a gasket, seal, stopper or plug, together with the drawing revision and critical mating dimensions. Include holes, ribs, locating features and allowable flash or parting-line positions for the molding review.
For silicone or EPDM selection, provide operating temperature, weather exposure, cleaning chemicals and contact fluids. EPDM must not be assumed suitable for petroleum oils; review the actual compound for the intended service. Agree hardness within the listed 40 to 80 Shore A range and define tolerance.
For a compressed gasket, specify the joint gap, fastening method and desired compression. Confirm sample dimensions, fit and inspection criteria before production, with any automotive documentation requirements stated in the order specification.
