Buna NBR Hammer Union Seals — Replacement Profile and Fluid Selection

Identify the union manufacturer, figure and nominal connection size, then confirm the actual seal profile and compound. Buna/NBR replacement selection requires the mating groove and service fluid details.
Application
Buna/NBR hammer union seals are used within specified hose or pipe union connections. The elastomer forms the sealing interface while the union hardware provides the mechanical connection. Select the compound for the actual oil, water, additives and cleaning fluids.
Product Description
A hammer union contains a thread end, nut end and hammer nut. The replacement seal must match the groove and assembly specification.
Where a metal-backed seal is required, specify the backing material, dimensions and rubber-to-metal construction from the drawing.
Lip seal and O-ring profiles are separate constructions; match the installed geometry and compression arrangement before replacement.
The seal is a replaceable component within the union. Threaded or welded end connections describe the hardware rather than the rubber seal itself.
Figures 602, 1002, 1502, 2002 and 2202 are assembly references requiring separate profile confirmation.
Available size :1", 2", 3", 4" and 5" nominal connection references; exact seal dimensions by mating drawing.
Material:
Buna/NBR compound and Shore A hardness specified on the order drawing. HNBR and other alternatives require separate compatibility review.
For molded Buna replacement seals, include dimensional tolerances, hardness and inspection requirements with the enquiry.
The complete union assembly rating and test records determine service and test pressure. This page does not certify an individual seal for 15,000 PSI service or a 22,500 PSI test.
Brass-backed and stainless-steel-backed configurations are selected by groove fit and assembly design; they are not interchangeable solely because the nominal connection size matches.
