Hammer Union Seals With or Without Metal Backing
A hammer union assembly uses mating union components and the seal profile specified for that hardware. For HUS001 replacement enquiries, identify whether the required seal is unbacked rubber or contains a metal insert. Metal backing changes the construction and groove fit; it is not an interchangeable addition to every rubber seal. Provide the insert material, dimensions and rubber-to-metal construction on the drawing.
The seal is a replacement component rather than a complete threaded or welded union. Figure references such as 602, 1002, 1502, 2002 and 2202 identify different hardware requirements. Confirm manufacturer, figure, nominal line size, groove dimensions and seal part number before selection; appearance alone does not establish compatibility.
