Application of NBR O-Rings and Buna O-Rings:
Buna, also called NBR or nitrile rubber, is used for compatible oil-service seals. Select the actual compound against the fluid formulation, additives and operating temperatures. 1. Is a flat ring interchangeable with an AS568 O-ring?
No interchangeability should be assumed. A flat annular seal is specified by width and thickness, while an O-ring has a circular cross-section. Match the mating groove, compression direction and drawing.
Check the installed section and available gland space before ordering a replacement.
2. What does the 2 3/4 description mean?
a. Identify whether it describes inner diameter, outer diameter or a nominal mating connection.
b. Include the measurement units and tolerances.
