Square Rings, X-Rings and O-Rings — Cross-Section and Gland Selection

Seal Types and Ordering Dimensions:

1: AS568 O-Rings

For a circular-section O-ring, specify the AS568 dash number or metric inner diameter and cross-section, dimensional tolerances and compound. A size reference defines dimensions; it does not establish suitability for a particular fluid, pressure or temperature.

Rubber material options include FEPM, EPDM, FKM, fluorosilicone, HNBR, NBR and silicone. Select the exact compound and hardness against the operating medium and temperature.

Urethane, PTFE and FEP-encapsulated constructions require separate material and gland review; do not treat them as interchangeable with a conventional molded rubber O-ring.

2: AS568 Perfluoroelastomer (FFKM) O-Rings

For an FFKM O-ring enquiry, provide the size, process chemicals, concentration, temperature range and required documentation. Grade selection is important for industrial and semiconductor applications.

Chemical compatibility and temperature limits depend on the specific FFKM compound. Food-contact, pharmaceutical or aerospace requirements need the applicable specification and compound documentation.

3: Back-up rings for AS568 O-Rings

Backup rings support a primary O-ring or another specified seal adjacent to an extrusion gap. Provide the complete groove and seal-stack drawing for the selected application.

Contoured, split and solid backup rings have distinct geometry and installation requirements. Specify material, inner and outer diameters, thickness and pressure direction before substitution.

4: Metric O rings

For metric O-rings, provide inner diameter and cross-section with tolerances. If a drawing refers to ISO 3601-1, JIS B 2401, DIN 3771 or another size system, include the designation and applicable edition so that dimensions can be matched.

Material: specify compound, hardness, fluid formulation and operating temperature for review.

5: X-Ring Seals — specify the four-lobed section, inner diameter, section dimensions and groove drawing. Confirm squeeze, motion and pressure direction for the intended gland.

6: Square Ring Seals — specify inner and outer diameters, axial thickness and section geometry. A square section must be checked against the groove; it is not a direct O-ring or X-ring replacement by diameter alone.

Hammer union seals:

Hammer Union Seals are used in hammer union-style pipe connections to establish flow lines and prevent leakage.

Available size : 1", 2", 3", 4" and 5"

Material options include NBR, FKM and HNBR, with brass or stainless support versions for specified union designs. Provide union figure, size, mating geometry and service conditions. HNBR alone does not establish sour-gas qualification; compound-specific testing and application data are required.

Swab cups seal against tubing or casing during swabbing. Select the cup design with tubing dimensions, mandrel fit, fluid, sand conditions and intended load; confirm compatibility for the specific well operation.

Rubber o rings or kits

For AS568 O-rings or kits, send the required dash sizes, compound and quantities; confirm tooling and availability for the selected parts.

Specify color, hardness and packaging requirements with the order.
