Cryogenic Ball Valve
EDVC Cryogenice ball valve application can exist in combination with other service conditions, including corrosive & dirty applications with toxic substances, flammable liquids (LNG, LPG or NGL condensate) or generic hydrocarbon gas in high pressure or high temperature applications.
Design temperature from -51° to -100°C (-59,8° to -148°F)
Ball valves for this temperature range should comply to customer specific requirements and shall be tested according to BS 6364 or equivalent standard. Soft seated construction with suitable stem extension and vapour space, with thermoplastic inserts like Devlon V, RPTFE, PEEK are still acceptable but PCTFE is mainly recommended; no elastomer is allowed in cryogenic service, non-metallic material should be limited to PTFE lip seals and graphite; carbon steel, low alloy and duplex steels should not be used below -51°C/-59,8°F. Austenitic stainless steel is suitable for this service and does not require any impact testing in this temperature range. Metal seated construction can be considered in case of combined service conditions.
