But for some high power electronic devices, the extruded aluminum heat sink could not meet the thermal requirements, and due to the space for heat sink is limited, we need to improve the thermal performance of heat sink in a given volume, the thermal conductivity and heat dissipation are the two main factors dominate the thermal performance, skiving fin heat sink is the perfect solution as the fins are peeled from base, so there is no thermal resistance between the fins and base, which makes the skived fin heat sink has great thermal conductivity, also the skiving process can create very thin fins, small fin pitch and high aspect ratio that could not be achieved by extruding process.
