Working Principle
Detecting based on stress birefringence, that is, a transparent substance is an isotropic body with the same refractive
index in all directions. In case there is stress in the transparent substance, the isotropy will be destroyed, resulting in
the change of refractive index. The refractive indices in the direction of two principal stresses are no longer the same,
and birefringence phenomenon will occur.
