Warnings & Precautions

Charging

  • Use a NiMH-Specific Charger: Always use a charger designed for NiMH chemistry.
 
  • Avoid Overcharging: Do not exceed the recommended charge times (e.g., 14-16 hours for 0.1C charge).
 
  • Temperature Monitoring: Charge only within the specified temperature range (0°C to +45°C).
 
  • Charge in a Well-Ventilated Area: Provide adequate space around the charger and battery during charging.

Discharging

  • Avoid Deep Discharge: While more tolerant than some chemistries, repeatedly discharging the battery below the recommended cut-off voltage (1.0V , 0.9V is a practical minimum ) can shorten its lifespan.
  • Temperature Management: Avoid discharging outside the recommended temperature range (-20°C to +50°C ). Extreme cold reduces performance and capacity; extreme heat accelerates aging.

  • Prevent Short Circuits: Never allow the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals to connect directly. Short circuits can cause very high currents, leading to extreme overheating, terminal damage, leakage, or fire. 

 
Storage
 
  • Partial Charge Storage: For long-term storage (longer than one month), it is often recommended to store the battery at a partial state of charge (around 40-50%).
 
  • Cool and Dry Environment: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, moisture, and heat sources. The ideal storage temperature is between -20°C to +35°C or -20°C to +25°C .
 
  • Regular Checks: If stored for very long periods, check the voltage periodically (every 1-2 months) and recharge if it drops near or below 1.0V per cell to prevent over-discharge.
