Warnings & Precautions

 

Charging

 

  • CRITICAL: Always use a charger specifically designed for Ni-MH batteries. Using an incorrect charger can be dangerous.

  • Standard Charging: Charge at 0.1C (180mA) for 14-16 hours.

  • Fast Charging: Use a smart charger with -ΔV (negative voltage delta) or dT/dt (temperature sensing) cut-off to prevent overcharging. Charging at 0.5C (900mA) for about 3-4 hours is typical.

  • Charge Temperature: Charge between 0°C and 45°C, with 20°C to 25°C being ideal.

 

Discharging

 

  • For the first use, it is recommended to perform a full charge-discharge cycle to activate the battery and bring it to its peak performance.
  • Avoid deep discharge below the recommended cutoff voltage (typically around 1.0V per cell, or 8.0V for the pack) to prevent damage.

Storage

For long-term storage (longer than 1-2 months):

  • Charge the battery to about 40-50% of its capacity.
  • Store in a cool, dry place.

  • Recharge every 3 months to prevent over-discharge due to self-discharge.
