Protection Features (Integrated Protection IC)

The battery pack includes a Protection Circuit Module (PCM) with the following typical protection parameters :

  • Overcharge Protection: 4.25V ± 0.025V per cell  / 4.28V ± 0.02V per cell  (-ΔV detection, cuts off charge circuit)
  • Overcharge Release: 3.8V ~ 4.2V per cell (Automatic recovery when voltage drops) 

  • Over-Discharge Protection: 2.4V ± 0.05V per cell  / 2.50V ± 0.10V per cell  (-ΔV detection, cuts off discharge circuit)

  • Over-Discharge Release: 2.8V ~ 3.2V per cell (Automatic recovery after charging) 

  • Overcurrent Protection: 3A ~ 6A  / 10A ~ 17A  (-ΔV detection, cuts off discharge circuit)

  • Short Circuit Protection: Immediate trip (e.g., VSS < 0.15V for t > 10ms) 

  • Temperature Protection: NTC thermistor typically integrated for external monitoring or internal cutoff

Warnings & Precautions

Charging

  • Use a Li-ion Specific Charger: Always use a charger designed for Li-ion chemistry and configured for this battery's voltage (8.4V) and current limits (≤2000mA). 
  • Avoid Overcharging: The protection IC is a backup. Do not rely on it exclusively. Do not leave the battery charging unattended for extended periods. Disconnect the charger once charging is complete .

  • Temperature Monitoring: Charge only within the specified temperature range (0°C to +45°C). Charging outside this range, especially below 0°C, can cause permanent damage .

 

Discharging

  • Avoid Deep Discharge: While the protection IC will cut off discharge, avoid regularly draining the battery until the device shuts off. Do not discharge below the cut-off voltage .
  • Current Limits: Do not exceed the maximum continuous discharge current (2000mA or 2600mA as per spec). Exceeding limits causes overheating, damage, and safety risks .

  • Temperature Management: Avoid discharging outside the recommended range (-20°C to +60°C). Extreme cold reduces performance; extreme heat accelerates aging and increases risks .

 

Storage

  • Partial Charge Storage: For long-term storage (longer than one month), store the battery at a 30%-50% State of Charge (SOC). Avoid storing fully charged or fully discharged .
  • Cool and Dry Environment: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Ideal storage temperature is -5°C to +20°C .

  • Regular Checks: If stored for very long periods, check the voltage every 3-6 months and recharge if it drops near the over-discharge protection voltage.
