Original SK200-6 Excavator Control Joystick Handle Pilot Valve Hydraulic Control Lever Control Handle
Functioning as a hydraulic pilot proportional control valve at its core, the excavator joystick does not directly drive machine movements. It sends control‑signal oil to operate the main multi‑way valve, thereby managing the speed and direction of excavator actions. Found on both sides of the cabin, the excavator control lever—known also as pilot lever, hydraulic handle or joystick—is the key component for operators to control every machine function, equivalent to the excavator’s “steering wheel and movable limbs”.
Working Style
Operate all excavator functions by moving the joystick in all directions:
- Main boom lifting
- Secondary stick extending and retracting
- Bucket opening and shutting
- Left‑right cab slewing
- Coordination with foot pedal valves for travel control
Working Theory
A hydraulic pilot valve is built inside each control handle:
- Tilting the handle pushes the internal valve spool
- Low‑pressure hydraulic signal is output
- Main hydraulic valve is controlled
- Cylinders and motors perform actions at varying speeds and directions
Proportional Speed Control
A wider handle deflection angle leads to larger spool opening → higher pilot oil pressure → greater main valve opening → faster boom, stick, bucket and slewing motions. When the handle is released, reset springs pull the handle and spool back to mid‑position, cutting off the pilot oil path, relieving pressure, resetting the main valve, and stopping all movements right away.
