Function
Engine-driven main pump supplies high-pressure hydraulic oil for boom, arm, bucket, travel & swing motors as excavator hydraulic power source.
Type
Axial variable piston pump, dual combined pump for mid/large excavators with rear pilot pump: main pump 28~35MPa, pilot pump 3~4MPa for pilot control circuit.
Structure
Cylinder block with pistons, angle-adjustable swash plate, external flow regulator and separating valve plate form full pump assembly. Regulator changes swash angle to adjust displacement, flow speed and fuel consumption.
Three Control Systems
Constant power avoids engine stall by reducing displacement under load; LS outputs flow on demand for fuel saving; pressure cut-off protects hydraulic parts by minimum displacement at max pressure.
Faults
Inner leakage or stuck regulator → slow movement; locked large displacement → overload & black smoke; heavy leakage → high oil temperature; air/oil shortage → abnormal noise.
Maintenance
Regular oil & filter change, airtight suction pipe and standard oil level are essential for pump lifespan.
