Application
Hydraulic main pump supplies high-pressure oil for all hydraulic actuators of excavator, powered by engine as the whole hydraulic system’s power source.
Pump Model
Most excavators adopt axial variable piston pump; mid-large excavator uses dual-body main pump plus rear pilot gear pump. Main pump pressure:28~35MPa, pilot pump 3~4MPa for pilot control system.
Inner Structure
Piston group inside cylinder block completes oil pumping with shaft rotation; swash plate angle changes pump displacement; side regulator controls swash angle to adjust flow and fuel consumption; valve plate separates low-pressure inlet and high-pressure outlet.
Working Control
Constant power reduces displacement under heavy load to prevent engine stall; LS control saves fuel by supplying needed oil only; pressure cut-off reduces displacement to minimum for overpressure protection.
Common Repair Faults
Slow operation from worn pistons/valve plate or stuck regulator; engine overload & black smoke when regulator stuck on large displacement; overheat oil from severe internal leakage; abnormal noise caused by air intake or insufficient hydraulic oil.
Maintenance Advice
Replace hydraulic oil and filters regularly, seal suction pipe against air and maintain standard oil level to reduce pump failure rate.
