Function
Powered by the excavator engine, the main hydraulic pump is the core of the hydraulic circuit. It transforms mechanical energy into high-pressure hydraulic energy, and sends pressurized fluid to each hydraulic motor to drive all working actions.
Type
Axial variable piston pumps are widely used on engineering excavators. Medium and large tonnage models adopt combined dual main pumps and a rear pilot gear pump.
Two independent high-pressure oil circuits supply the main control valve to realize combined actions, with working pressure ranging 28~35MPa.
The tail-mounted pilot pump runs at 3~4MPa with low flow, providing low-pressure control oil for operating levers and main valve spools.

Internal Parts

Constant power control automatically reduces displacement when load rises, protecting the engine and making full use of power.

Common Failures
Internal leakage from worn pistons, faulty valve plates or blocked regulators makes machine run slowly and output insufficient power.
When the regulator cannot move and stays at maximum displacement, the engine will overload, emit black smoke and stall under heavy loads.
Excessive leakage converts pressure loss into heat, leading to abnormal rise of hydraulic oil temperature. Air or damaged parts will cause strange noise.

Maintenance
Carry out regular replacement of hydraulic oil and filter elements to protect precision parts. Keep suction pipes well sealed to prevent air intake and vibration. Maintain hydraulic oil at standard level.
