Function
The main hydraulic pump serves as the central power component for excavator hydraulic circuits. Powered by the engine, it converts mechanical energy into high-pressure hydraulic energy and delivers pressurized fluid to hydraulic motors to actuate all working movements of the excavator.
Type
Engineering excavators are mostly equipped with axial variable displacement piston pumps. Medium and large machines adopt integrated twin main pumps together with a rear pilot gear pump unit.
Two independent high-pressure oil supply lines feed the main control valve to realize compound movements, with nominal working pressure 28~35MPa.
The tail-mounted low-pressure pilot pump operates at 3~4MPa with low flow output, supplying pilot pressure oil for control levers and main valve spools.

Internal Parts

Common Failures
Worn pistons, damaged valve plates or blocked regulators produce internal leakage, leading to slow operation and power shortage.
When regulator is locked at maximum displacement, engine will overload, discharge black smoke and stall under heavy working loads.
Too much internal leakage converts pressure loss into heat, causing hydraulic oil temperature to rise abnormally.
Air intake, insufficient oil level or damaged bearings and pistons will trigger abnormal operating noise.

Maintenance
Replace hydraulic oil and filters regularly to avoid abrasion on precision internal parts. Guarantee tight sealing of suction pipes to prevent air suction and machine vibration. Keep hydraulic fluid at specified level to ensure stable pump performance.
