Application

Monosodium phosphate is used in the food industry as an emulsifying agent, buffer and nutrient. Examples include: buffer in foodstuffs, ingredient in emulsifying salts for processed cheese, as component of other mix phosphates for processed meat products.

Properties

Anhydrous products are white powder, and melting point is at 190 ℃. Dihydrate products is colorless crystal, relative density at 1.915 g/cm3, melting point at 57.4℃. It is soluble in water, not soluble in organic solution. Sodium dihydrogen phosphate (NaH2PO4 · 2H2O) is also known as monosodium phosphate and monobasic sodium phosphate. It is colorless crystalline or white crystalline powder, odorless, soluble in water, and its aqueous solution is acidic, almost insoluble in ethanol. When heated, it loses crystallization, and water can be decomposed into acidic sodium pyrophosphate (na3h2p2o7).

Organic solvent extraction technology is more and more widely used in the production of phosphate. Some studies have applied this technology to the production of sodium dihydrogen phosphate. A kind of extractant with low water solubility, good selectivity for hydrochloric acid extraction and high extraction efficiency was selected to remove H + and Cl - in phosphoric acid and sodium chloride solution from aqueous phase, while Na + and H2 po - 4 were removed from aqueous phase NaH2PO4 · 2H2O was obtained by crystallization.
