Properties:
White powder. The apparent density is 0.35 ~ 0.90g/cm3. Melting point 622 ℃. It is easily soluble in water, its aqueous solution is alkaline, and the pH value of 1% aqueous solution is 9.7. There are two crystal forms, namely na5p3o10-i type( α Type, high temperature type) and na5p3o10- type II( β Type, low temperature type). The chemical properties of the two configurations are the same, and the same aqueous solution and crystalline hydrate can be obtained. The difference lies in different thermal stability, solubility, hydration heat and hygroscopicity. Type I is more stable and hygroscopic than type II. It will gradually hydrolyze in water to form orthophosphate. It has good ability to complex metal ions. It can complex with calcium, magnesium, iron and other metal ions to form soluble complexes. It can soften hard water and turn the suspension into a solution. It is weakly alkaline and non corrosive. It is an inorganic surfactant with strong emulsifying effect on lubricating oil and fat. The bulk density is usually divided into low density 0.35-0.5g/cm3 and medium density 0.51-0.65g/cm3, High density 0.66-0.9g/cm3 pentasodium has two crystal forms: type I (high temperature type) and type II (low temperature type). Their chemical properties are the same. The difference is that the thermal stability and hygroscopicity of type I are higher than that of type II. At the same time, their solubility and hydration heat during dissolution are different. Sodium tripolyphosphate is an inorganic surfactant with certain properties of organic surfactant.
Applications:
Industrial grade sodium tripolyphosphate is used as the main auxiliary of synthetic detergent, soap synergist, tanning pretanning agent and softener of industrial water; Effective powder for suspension treatment of paint, clay, magnesium oxide, calcium carbonate and drilling mud; Papermaking is used as anti oil stain agent;
